Logistic providers to focus on automation to meet delivery volumes

A recent report by Bringg revealed that over half of logistic providers will focus their efforts on automation in order to meet the growing delivery volumes.

Indeed, it was reported that over 60% of logistics service providers witnessed an increase in demand for last-mile delivery. Yet, they stated that a lack of visibility, automation, and innovative tech was preventing them from achieving their goals. 41% declared that outdated business processes and manual operations were the biggest barriers to scaling last-mile operations.

Hence, there is a vital need for the industry to fill the gaps in tech capabilities as well as meeting short-term goals and facilitating long-term growth.

Moreover, the study showed that 88% of UK logistics leaders see their sustainability practices as a ‘high’ or ‘very high’ priority, while the U.S. lags behind its European counterparts. Thus, 54% of logistics providers are determined to implement automated practices in order to improve customer service, with 41% having already done so.

However, 20% of respondents stated that they’ve abandoned automated scheduling and self-scheduling due to high expenses.

As digital transformation is happening across every industry, it is essential that logistic providers are provided with the best cloud-based delivery and fulfillment solutions that allow them to digitize, automate and orchestrate their logistics operations.
