Park Associates: Smart home devices create vulnerabilities

International IoT research firm, Park Associates, revealed nearly 50% of customers with Western European broadband are concerned people could get unauthorised access to data through smart products.

Nearly 50% of consumers in US broadband households rank data security and privacy issues as their greatest concern about connecting devices to the internet.

Senior analyst at Parks Associates, Brad Russell, said: “Smart home devices bring immense value, but they also create new vulnerabilities and added stress for consumers.

“The smart home provider that can demonstrate and deliver IoT benefits safely and securely, especially in these early stages of the European market, will open significant business opportunities.”
