Robot Dog to be essential for construction in Canada

Following its first appearance in 2019, Spot the Robot Dog was recently able to demonstrate its potential at a Cadillac Fairview location in Toronto, Ontario.

Indeed, the robot dog developed by Boston Dynamics is fully customizable and can be used as a tool within many sectors such as agriculture, mining, and construction, with the help of its programmable API. In November 2021, the robot made its first appearance back as part of a multi-stakeholder partnership between PCL, Pomerleau, Latium Technologies, Intel, and Microsoft.

The robot was able to show the potential of AI-powered systems within the construction industry as well as in terms of increasing the workplace’s efficiency. In order to do so, Spot was equipped with multiple payloads, such as environmental sensors, a laser scanner, and a 360-degree camera. Hence, the robot can autonomously scutter about the facility with great precision and provide assistance when needed.

With the robot, valuable data is gathered to help optimize the supply chain process as well as send information directly to vendors. It was then reported that Spot could lead the way towards a rapidly increasing level of available information and data that is indispensable to developing the sector.
