Russian attackers hacked US voting software

According to a report by The Classified National Agency, at least one US voting software was attacked by Russian hackers days before last year’s presidential election.

The report found that the Russian Military Intelligence sent spear-phishing emails to over 100 local election officials through attacking a US voting software company.

Hackers apparently used data to target US local government organisations by creating a new email account to start a spear-phishing campaign.

US District Court charged a 25 year old intelligence contractor from Georgia, Augusta for copying classified documents and mailing them, leaking them outside of the US.

Her lawyer Titus Thomas Nichols, declined to confirm the allegations. “My client has no (criminal) history, so it’s not as if she has a pattern of having done anything like this before. She is a very good person. All this craziness has happened all of a sudden,” said Nichols.

“If there is a confession, the government has not shown it to me,” he added.
