SMEs to be reluctant to embrace software solutions

A recent study by Continental revealed that more than a third of companies, especially Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) are not using software solutions.

Indeed, the survey studied the use of software for managing drivers, vehicles, and logistics operations in the transport industry. Many logistics and transport companies are satisfied with their software solutions, however, most SMEs are still not convinced on how software can benefit them.

This can be explained by the fact that in the transportation business, operator margins are generally rather low compared to other industries. It was also reported that leaders want to be sure that the investment will pay out before making it. Besides, transport companies in Europe sometimes lack the specialized person to analyze the issue, evaluate the software, and estimate the possible effects. Thus, transport companies do not want to spend huge amounts on something that might not work entirely.

Moreover, the sector stills need to embrace digital solutions and invest in new software that could help them leverage their strategies. Those companies are often driven by the need to be cost-efficient before anything else.
