AI software recreates songs by dead artists to shed light on mental health

An AI software, developed by the Toronto organization Over The Bridge, has recently created a compilation of songs in the style of famous artists who died at the age of 27 such as Nirvana and Amy Winehouse in order to raise awareness for mental health.

The compilation is entitled ‘Drowned In The Sun – Lost Tapes Of The 27 Club’ and is entirely written by using artificial intelligence. It was made with Google’s AI programme Magenta, which is able to analyse an artist’s previous work and learn how to compose like them. Then, another similar AI programme was used to write the lyrics.

The project aims to shed light on musicians’ struggles with depression and mental health issues, as well as offer them the help they need.
