Fiat Chrysler recalls software glitch

More than 1.25 million Fiat Chrysler pickup trucks have a software glitch, which might be associated with one fatality, two injuries and two accidents.

The truck vehicle models affected by the faulty software are 2013-16 Ram 1500, 2013-16 Ram 2500 and 2014-2016 Ram 3500.

According to the vehicle firm, the problems include sensor failures that disable the air bag and seat belt locking mechanism when the vehicle rolls over during a crash.

“The company is aware of one fatality, two injuries and two accidents that may be related,” said Fiat Chrysler in a statement.

The company will re-programme modules in the affected vehicles, in hope to address this error, free of charge.

The vehicles have been sold in the United States, Mexico, Canada and North America.
