Ubiquiti, victim of a security breach

At the beginning of the week, Ubiquiti revealed that it was the victim of a data breach and it became aware of unauthorized access to its systems hosted by a third-party cloud provider.

The company, one of the biggest vendors of networking gear, didn’t provide much information about the security breach and is still uncertain about whether or not customer data have been compromised.

The data in question could include customers’ names, email addresses, and passwords to accounts, as well as addresses and phone numbers in certain cases.

The company has thus warned administrators that use some of their network equipment to take the necessary steps in order to protect themselves such as changing their passwords and enabling two-factor authentication.

Users are able to access their accounts and manage their routers remotely.
