Alert Logic reveals responses from cybersecurity professionals

Alert Logic has announced the latest data points and trends in cybersecurity in a recent survey, which revealed that the biggest hurdles to stronger cybersecurity are resources and skills.

Security professionals took part in the survey to discuss how employees can detect and prevent internal threats. 37% of participants said that it is crucial to have skilled employees, 37% said a lack of skilled employees holds their company back, 56% of employees lack in skills, 49% of companies lack in budget and 45% of employees lack in security awareness.

According to 81% of respondents, the most valuable SOC capabilities are remediation of attacks and rapid identification, while 72% believe that 24/7 threat intelligence monitoring is extremely important.

Oliver Pinson-Roxburgh, EMEA Director at Alert Logic said “Internal IT teams are struggling to find the resources and retain skills to provide around the clock coverage to respond to these threats. A 24/7 Security Operations Centre is a must, and that is why many organisations are looking to outsource, or augment, their security operations with managed security services that have the people, resource and skills they need.”

“There is no doubt that cybercrime will continue to pose a major threat, and that addressing the cybersecurity skills shortage is a major priority for our customers,” he concluded.

The survey consisted of 317 security professionals in the UK, Benelux and Nordics.
