According to The Seattle Times, Amazon has laid off hundreds of employees at its headquarters at Seattle.

The American electronic commerce and cloud computing firm brought its Seattle employee count to 40,000.

Now, the company has more than 500,000 employees worldwide, with 4,000 openings at its headquarters and 12,000 globally.

The firm’s workforce has globally increased by a whopping 66% over the last year.

The firm’s core e-commerce business is witnessing the majority of the layoffs. This is because of its margins being narrow and its growth slowing down.
Despite this, the company is still investing in other businesses.
