Debenhams flower power cyber attack

Debenhams’ online florist, Ecomnova, has revealed that cyber attackers stole personal data from 26,000 customers between the 4th February and 11th April.

Hackers took the names, addresses and financial information from tens of thousands of their retail consumers, according to Debenhams.

Debenhams informed the Information Commissioner’s Office and assured their Ecomnova customers to closely monitor their bank balances, emails, post and phone calls, as malicious software was used behind the attack.

The third party firm, Ecomnova, which also sells hampers, personalised gifts and wine was suspended as soon as the hack was discovered.

“As soon as we were informed that there had been a cyber attack, we suspended the Debenhams Flowers website and commenced a full investigation,” said Sergio Bucher, Chief Executive of Debenhams, according to Sky News.

“We are very sorry that customers have been affected by this incident and we are doing everything we can to provide advice to affected customers and reduce their risk.”
