Government announces £86million healthcare tech fund

The government has announced its £86million fund for new healthcare technology, including the launch of a new Digital Health Catalyst.

The fund is to help small and medium sized enterprises test, develop and integrate new technologies within the NHS.

The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and the Department of Health provided the money.

To help fund the health technology a £35million digital health technology catalyst will be used by innovators.

According to Digital Health, the Digital Health Catalyst money is coming from the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund, a £197million funding round.

The Business Minister, Lord Prior, said in a statement: “The government has an important role to play in driving innovation that will increase economic growth and support businesses across the country.

“Through this funding we will quicken the pace of scientific discovery and innovation in the UK.”

The government also announced that the fund will be split into four packages.
