HiTech Padi Bhd in push to increase Malaysian software testing market share

Global IT systems and technology services provider, HeiTech Padu Bhd, is looking to secure 10% of the Malaysian software testing market by 2020.

According to the International Data Corp, the software testing market was worth US$319billion in 2012, and is now estimated to be worth US$2.9billion by 2020.

HeiTech Padu chairman, Datuk Seri Mohd Hilmey Taib, announced: “The group is planning to expand the segment into a standalone business division, expecting the demand for software testing to grow with the requirement for testing by an independent verification and validation partner being made mandatory in 2016.”rwa

HeiTech Padu’s executive vice-president, Ariff Mokhtar, said to The Edge Markets: “In Malaysia, there are only two software testers that are eyeing the test maturity model integration certification. Besides us, there’s Mesiniaga Bhd; the local software testing market is currently dominated by big international firms such as Tata Consultancy Services and Accenture.

“Most government-linked companies are hiring consultants from overseas, so we want to capture that market.”
