Testing program to increase Indigenous participation in tech

Following Indigenous People’s day in the United States, PLATO Testing announced that it would open its second software tester training program course in Sault St Marie in November.

This training program will offer Indigenous students the possibility to train in software testing over the course of 5 months, followed then by a paid internship with local companies.

This initiative aims to open more doors to Indigenous people in Testing and in the tech sector in general. PLATO also stated that it was addressing Canada’s tech talent shortage by introducing this network of Indigenous software testers.

There are currently more than 50 full-time Indigenous software testers working for the company. PLATO has for objective to hire 1000 Indigenous testers among 20 Canadian communities.
