Various US workers to be at high risk of automation

It was recently reported that various occupations in the US would become automated in the future.

Indeed, a study by Oxford University and the Bureau of Labor Statistics found out that 42% of US workers were at high risk of automation in the next few years as the pandemic accelerated the adoption of autonomous technology. Lower skilled jobs and repetitive tasks are very likely to become automated as well as people working in office administration, production, transportation, and food preparation.

Moreover, it was also found out that workers who earn smaller wages are more likely to have their occupation become automated than those who earn a lot. For instance, chief executives only have a 1.5% of automation and earn a median annual wage of $186,000.

Besides, some states in the US will feel the consequences of automation more severely than others. It was shown that rural communities will have more tasks become automated than do more populated areas. Hence, Nevada and South Dakota have the highest share of workers at high risk of automation.
