Antivirus software entrepreneur John McAfee found dead

It was recently reported that anti-virus software entrepreneur John McAfee has been found dead in his prison cell in Barcelona.

The famous British-American computer programmer, the founder of the software company McAfee Associates, apparently died from a suicide a few hours after Spain’s Audiencia Nacional court agreed to his extradition for alleged tax evasion.

McAfee had been arrested last year in Spain for having allegedly made millions in undisclosed compensation from misleading cryptocurrency offerings on Twitter. Indeed, it was reported that he would have earned millions from promoting cryptocurrencies, as well as through consulting work, speaking engagements, and selling the rights to his life story for a documentary.

Hence, the US Justice Department had accused him of failing to file any tax returns from 2014 to 2018. A few hours before his death, it was announced that Spain’s Audiencia Nacional court agreed to extradite him to the States to face trial for tax evasion.
