Automation to impact low-skilled jobs in IT companies

A recent report revealed that Indian IT companies will be cutting up to 3 million jobs by 2022 due to the rise of automation.

Indeed, it was reported that the impact of automation and especially Robotic Process Automation (RPA) will lead to the loss of around 30% of low-skilled jobs. Most of these roles are expected to be replaced by RPA or other technological upgrades and upskilling. By doing so, organizations are thus planning to save around $100 billion in salaries annually.

Besides, it was also found out that jobs in America will also be impacted by the development of RPA. Numerous big organizations such as Wipro, Infosys, and Cognizant are expected to replace up to 3 million low-skilled roles by 2022. The study showed that IT companies will save not only money but also time as robots can function 24 hours a day.

Moreover, more businesses are looking to have RPA-driven jobs as they might try to bring their offshored work back to their home markets. They will also be looking to use native IT workers or domestic software robots in order to secure their digital supply chain as well as ensure the future resiliency of their infrastructure.

Finally, it was stated that emerging economies such as India and China are the ones that will be facing the most disruptions regarding RPA and automation, which are expected to affect up to 85% of jobs in some countries.
