Compensation for broadband users

The regulator Ofcom has announced that householders who receive poor service from their telecoms provider are to get automic compensation.

If a telecom provider from 2019 does not fix the fault, the household owner will receive £8 a day as a refund through their bill.

If a broadband or landline is not working on the day it was said to get fixed, providers will have to pay £5 a day.

If an engineer misses their appointment to fix the issue, they will also have to give £25 in compensation.

Ofcom has estimated as many as 2.6 million people could benefit from the new rules, according to Ofcom.
