Hackers steal US$400,000 of virtual currency

On Saturday hackers stole US$400,000 of the virtual currency Stellar Lumen from the web-based app BlackWallet.

According to the tech news website Bleeping Computer, hackers moved the money to the virtual currency exchange Bittex, to “hide their tracks” and to convert it into another digital currency.

The developer, who calls himself Orbit84, wrote in a forum: “I am sincerely sorry about this and hope that we will get the funds back.

“I am in talks with my hosting provider to get as much information about the hacker and will see what can be done with it.

“If you ever entered your key on BlackWallet, you may want to move your funds to a new wallet.”

Reddit also noted BlackWallet’s creator has disabled his hosting account and websites since the attack.
