Wordle to now be using ad tracking software

It was recently reported that Wordle is now using different ad tracking apps.

Indeed, since the famous word puzzle game has been bought by The New York Times, it has been filled with ad tracking software when there used to be none. The New York Times has changed the web address as well and added trackers from both the main New York Times website and ones that send data to third-party companies.

By doing so, third-party companies such as Google will be able to know you’re using Wordle and where you were when did so as to give you personalized ads. This isn’t unseen but the original Wordle used to be completely non-profit, especially as there are no warnings on the Wordle site about the ad trackers.

Moreover, ad trackers apps are criticized for being used by the police and government agencies to track people’s movement online, with no warrants.
